Morning Offering

O Jesus,
through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer You all my prayers, works, and sufferings of this day. For all the intentions of Your Sacred Heart. In union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world. In reparation for all my sins. For the intentions of all our associates, and, in particular for our Holy Father for this month.

Amen.

The Angelus

V.    The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary,
R.    And she conceived of the Holy Spirit.
     Hail Mary, etc.

V.    Behold the handmaid of the Lord.
R.    Be it done unto me according to Your Word.
     Hail Mary, etc.

V.    And the Word was made flesh,
R.    And dwelt among us.
     Hail Mary, etc.

V.    Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
R.    That wee may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

     Let us pray:

Pour forth, we beseech You, O Lord, Your Grace into our hearts; that as we have known the incarnation of Christ, your Son by the message of an angel, so by His passion and cross we may be brought to the glory of His Resurrection. Through the same Christ, our Lord.

Amen.

The Salve Regina

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy.
Hail our life, our sweetness and our hope!
To You do we cry, poor banished children of Eve!
To You do we send up our sighs; mourning and weeping in this vale of tears!
Turn then, most gracious Advocate, Your eyes of mercy toward us; and after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of Your womb, Jesus!
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!

The Memorare

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided.

Inspired by this confidence, I fly to you O virgin of virgins, my mother. To you I come; before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful.

O mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me.

Amen.

Magnificat

My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior;

Because he has regarded the lowliness of his handmaid; For, behold, hence forth all generations shall call me blessed;

Because he who is might has done great things for me, and holy is his name;

And his mercy is from generation to generation on those who fear him.

He has shown might with his arm, he has scattered the proud in the conceit of their heart.

He has put down the might from their thrones, and has exalted the lowly.

He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty.

He as given help to Israel, his servant, mindful of his mercy--

Even as he spoke to our fathers--to Abraham and to his posterity forever.

Mary, Mother of Grace

(Roman Ritual)

Mary, Mother of grace,
Mother of mercy,
Shield me from the enemy
And receive me at the hour of my death.

Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi

      Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.
      Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
      Where there is injury, pardon;
      Where there is doubt, faith;
      Where there is darkness, light'
      And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Anima Christi

(St. Ignatius)

      Soul of Christ sanctify me;
      Body of Christ save me;
      Blood of Christ inebriate me;
      Water from the side of Christ wash me;
      Passion of Christ strengthen me.
      O good Jesus hear me;
      With in Your wounds hide me;
      Never permit me to be speared from You;
      From the evil one protect me,
      At the hour of my death call me. And bid me come to You
      That with Your saints I may praise You forever.

      Amen.

Prayer of St. Ignatius of Loyola

Dearest Lord, teach me to be generous: teach me to serve You as You deserve: to give and not count the cost, to fight and not to heed the wounds, to toil and not to seek for rest, to labor and not to ask for reward save that of knowing I am doing Your will.

Prayer to Saint Joseph

O Blessed Saint Joseph, faithful guardian and protector of virgins, to whom entrusted Jesus and Mary, I implore you by the love which you did bear them, to preserve me from every defilement of would and body, that I may always serve them in holiness and purity of love.

Amen.

Prayer to Saint Michael

Saint Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do you, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the powder of God, thrust into hell Satan and the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Have mercy on us. (Three times.)

Prayer to Christ the King

Christ Jesus, I acknowledge You King of the universe. All that has been created has been made for You. Make full use of Your rights over me.

I renew the promises I made in Baptism, when I renounced Satan and all his pomps and works, and I promise to live a good Christian life and to do all in my power to procure the triumph of the rights of God and Your Church

Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer you my efforts in order to obtain that all hearts may acknowledge your Sacred Royalty, and that thus the Kingdom of Your peace may be established throughout the universe.

Amen.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Come, Holy Spirit, full my heart with Your holy gifts.

Let my weakness be penetrated with your strength this very day that I may fulfill all the duties of my state conscientiously, that I may do what is right and just.

Let my charity be such as to offend no one, and hurt no one's feelings; so generous as to pardon sincerely any wrong done to me.

Assist me, O Holy Spirit, in all my trials of life, enlighten me in my ignorance, advise me in my doubts, strengthen me in my weakness, help me in all my needs, protect me in temptations and console me in afflictions.

Graciously hear me, O Holy Spirit, and pour Your light into my heart, my would, and my mind.

Assist me to live a holy life and to grow in goodness and grace.

Amen.

Daily Prayer to Sacred Heart

    Your grace, in which I desire at all costs to persevere.

    Keep me from sin and strengthen my will by helping me to
    keep watch over my senses, my imagination, and my heart.

    Help me to correct my faults which are the source of sin.

    I beg You to do this, O Jesus, through Mary, Your Immaculate Mother.

My Breastplate

      Christ be with me, Christ within me,
      Christ behind me, Christ before me,
      Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
      Christ to comfort me and restore me,
      Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
      Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
      Christ in hearts of all that love me,
      Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.

(St. Patrick)

Prayer before a Crucifix

Look down upon me, good and gentle Jesus while before Your face I humbly kneel and , with burning soul, pray and beseech You to fix deep in my heart lively sentiments of faith, hope, and charity; true contrition for my sins, and a firm purpose of amendment.

While I contemplate, with great love and tender pity, Your five most precious wounds, pondering over them with in me and calling to mind the words which David, Your prophet, said of You, my Jesus:

"They have pierced My hands and My feet,
they have numbered all My bones."

Amen.

Prayer for Priests

O Jesus,
I pray for Your faithful and fervent priests; for Your unfaithful and tepid priests; for Your priests laboring at home or abroad in distant mission fields; for Your tempted priests; for Your lonely and desolate priests; for Your young priests; for Your dying priests; for the souls of Your priests in purgatory.

But above all I recommend to You the priests dearest to me; the priest who baptized me; the priests who absolved me from my sins; the priests at whose Masses I assisted and who gave me Your Body and Blood in Holy Communion; the priests who taught and instructed me; all the priests to whom I am indebted in any other way. O Jesus, keep them all close to Your heart, and bless them abundantly in time and in eternity.

Amen.

Prayer for the Souls in Purgatory

O gentle Heart of Jesus, ever present in the Blessed Sacrament, ever consumed with burning love for the poor captive souls in Purgatory, have mercy on them.

Be not severe in Your judgments, but let some drops of Your Precious Blood fall upon the devouring flames.

And, Merciful Saviour, sent Your angels to conduct them to a place of refinement, light and peace.

Amen.

Prayer for a Family

O dear Jesus,
I humbly implore You to grant Your special graces to our family. May our home be the shine of peace, purity, love, labor and faith. I beg You, dear Jesus, to protect and bless all of us, absent and present, living and dead.

O Mary,
loving mother of Jesus, and our Mother, pray to Jesus for our family, for all the families of the world, to guard the cradle of the newborn, the schools of the young and their vocations.

Blessed Saint Joseph,
holy guardian of Jesus and Mary, assist us by your prayers in all the necessities of life. Ask of Jesus that special grace which He granted to you, to watch over our home at the pillow of the sick and the dying, so that with Mary and with you, heaven may find our family unbroken in the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Amen.

Prayer for the Helpless Unborn

Heavenly Father, You create men in Your won image, and You desire that not even the least among us should perish. In Your love for us, You entrusted Your only Son to the holy Virgin Mary. Now, in Your love, protect against the wickedness of the evil, those little ones to whom You have given the gift of life.

Prayer for Faith

Lord, I believe: I wish to believe in Thee.

Lord, I let my faith be full and unreserved, and let it penetrate my thought, my way of judging Divine things and human things.

Lord, let my faith be joyful and give peace and gladness to my spirit, and dispose it for prayer with God and conversation with men, so that the inner bliss of its fortunate possession may shine forth in sacred and secular conversation.

Lord, let my faith be humble and not presume to be based on the experience of my thought and of my feeling; but let it surrender to the testimony of the Holy Spirit, and not to have any better guarantee than in docility to Tradition and to the authority of the magisterium of Holy Church.

Amen.

(Pope Paul VI)

An Evening Visit

Be with us, Lord, tonight. Stay to adore and praise, and give thanks for us while we sleep; to draw down mercy and grace upon the world; to give strength to the suffering souls in purgatory in their long night of waiting.

Stay with us to ward off the anger of God from our crowded cities with their dens of vice, their crimes that call to Heaven for vengeance.

Stay with us, to guard the innocent, to sustain the tempted, to raise the fallen, to curb the power of the evil one, to prevent sin.

Stay with us, to comfort the sorrowing, to bless the death-beds, to grant contrition to the dying, to receive into the arms of Your mercy the thousands that this night must come before You for Judgement.

O good Shepherd, stay with Your sheep. Secure them against the perils that beset them. Stay, above all, with the suffering and dying. Grant us a quiet night and perfect end. Be our merciful Shepherd to the last, that without fear we may appear before You as our Judge.

Evening Prayer

(St. Augustine)

Watch, O Lord, with those who wake, or watch, or weep tonight, and give Your Angels and Saints charge over those who sleep.

    Tend Your sick one, O Lord Christ.
    Rest Your weary ones.
    Bless Your dying ones,
    Soothe Your suffering ones,
    Pity Your afflicted ones, Shield Your joyous ones,
    And all for Your love's sake.

    Amen.

O Lord Forgive

My failure to be true even to my own accepted standards:
   O Lord, forgive!"

"My self-deception in the face of temptation:
   O Lord, forgive!"

My choosing of the worse when I knew the better:
   O Lord forgive!"

My failure to apply to myself the standards of conduct that I demand of others;
   O Lord forgive!~

My blindness to the suffering of others and my slowness to be taught by my own:
   O Lord, forgive!"

My complacence toward wrongs that do not touch my won case and my over sensitiveness to those that do:
   O Lord, forgive!"

My slowness to see the good in my fellows and to see the evil in myself:
   O Lord forgive!"

My hardness of heart toward my neighbor's faults and my readiness to make allowance for my own:
   O Lord for give!"

My unwillingness to believe that You have called me to a small work and my brother to a great one:
   O Lord, forgive!"

Christianity

      In the home it is kindness;
      In the business it is honesty;
      In society it is courtesy;
      In work it is fairness;
      Toward the unfortunate it is sympathy;
      Toward the weak it is help;
      Toward the wicked it is resistance;
      Toward the strong it is trust;
      Toward the penitent it is forgiveness;
      Toward the successful it is congratulations????;
      And toward God it is reverence and obedience.

Anonymous

    I asked God for strength, that I might achieve....
    I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey.

    I asked for health, that I might do greater things...
    I was given infirmity, that I might do better things.

    I asked for riches, that I might be happy...
    I was given poverty, that I might be wise.

    I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men...
    I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God.

    I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life...
    I was given life, that I might enjoy all things.

    I got nothing that I asked for, but everything I head hoped for.

    Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered.

    I am among all men, most richly blessed.
